DEVI AHILYA BAI AIRPORT TO GET A NEW TERMINAL FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS!

Indore has been making buzz for its fast pace development. The newest such development from the Indore comes in the form of a new terminal.

Over the past few weeks, Indore’s Devi Ahilya Bai Airport has been on a roll. Recently, the airport had acquired land from six adjoining villages to make the airport fit to be an international one. Earlier, the airport also got a new aerobridge that helps with international departures. The newest such development from the Indore airport comes in the form of a new terminal. This terminal should be ready in a few years.

What’s the update?

As part of the construction of a new airport terminal at Indore airport, the goal is to have up to 60 lakh passengers at the terminal. The authorities have already received confirmation from the higher-ups and are looking to make Indore airport a world-class one.

Recently, the airport had acquired land from six adjoining villages to make the airport fit to be an international one. Earlier, the airport also got a new aero bridge that helps with international departures. The newest such development from the Indore airport comes in the form of a new terminal.

With the newly launched international flights, the influx of passengers from different countries will also rise, which is a major reason to construct the new, state of the art terminal. Currently, Indore airport is in a good shape. However, new infrastructure is being developed all over the airport so that it lives up to the international tag. As per reports, the Indore airport saw a 20% rise in passengers in just the last year.

The goal of the new terminal is to make sure that it can hold double the number of passengers than it can now. It seems that Indore airport won’t be the same anymore. Whom will it benefit? The upcoming terminal will be utilized for domestic flights whilst the current one will be kept for international flights. In addition to this, the upcoming development at Indore airport will ensure that passengers going out of the city or coming into town have a better first impression of the city. In addition to that, the airport will also provide better services to passengers who visit the airport on a regular basis.

The cost of construction of an entirely new terminal is approximately ₹475 crores and we’re expecting it to have some great conveniences. In addition to that, the recently acquired land will also be used to build a new runway and the length of the new runway will be increased to 4000 meters, which means that more flights can originate and depart from Indore, which would greatly help with matters in the city. The international flight from Indore departed on July 15 which was a Dubai bound flight.

Only a few weeks back, the airport received immigration clearance from the home ministry and city’s first Dubai bound international flight was proposed.

The Indore airport has been gearing up for international flights for a while now. Earlier this month, there were reports that the airport would get a new aerobridge and two of these would be used for international flights. In fact, only three weeks back, the airport received immigration clearance from the home ministry and the city’s first Dubai bound international flight was proposed.

Boeing Jet- Airbus A320 was used for the first flight from Indore to Dubai, which has the capacity to seat 162 passengers. Further, the plan is to have three flights from Indore on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, while from Dubai, the returning flights will ply on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.  The timings for these flights are rather comfortable for not just travelers from Indore, but from nearby places which do not have an international airport.

Already, we can see that Indore will see a greater influx of professionals owing to this new development. As per reports from a few travel agencies and websites, the number of commuters that search for direct flights from Indore to Dubai is actually quite large.
